Kansas tight end Jared Casey had a moment for the ages earlier in November during the Jayhawks’ 57-56 overtime win over Texas. Casey, a walk on to the team, caught the game-winning two-point conversion.

Now Casey is cashing in on his newfound fame. He has landed a name, image and likeness deal with the restaurant chain Applebee’s. He recently filmed a commercial at a Lawrence, Kan. location of the restaurant.

In the clip, Casey’s game-winning play is referenced multiple times:

Due to the NCAA allowing players to profit off their name, image, and likeness, Casey told the Kansas City Star that he’s received $800 cash and $1,000 in Applebee’s gift cards as a part of the deal. As if the Applebee’s spot wasn’t big enough, Casey is also planning on working with Lewis Automotive Group, which has dealerships across Kansas.

“They gave me a call a couple days ago,” Casey added about the car dealership sponsorship. “They’re gonna talk to the university and see what we could get done there.”

If Casey can turn this automotive sponsorship into a new vehicle, that’s something he’s definitely interested in since he currently drives a Kia Spectra with a whopping 230,000 miles on it.

“I don’t know how it still works. The cruise takes off and on sometimes … you don’t got to put that in there,” Casey said with a laugh. “But yeah, it’s been a family car for sure.”

It’s certainly been a whirlwind of a month for the Jayhawks tight end.
