Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas – In a crossroads featherweight bout, former world champion Isaac Dogboe (22-3, 15 KOs) had to rally in the final few rounds to win a ten round majority decision over Christopher Diaz (26-4, 16 KOs)
The scores were 95-95, 96-94 and 97-93 for Dogboe.
Diaz had the clear advantage in speed in the first two rounds. The fight was being contested like a tactical boxing match. Dogboe was working behind a double-jab, but he was getting hit with combinations.
Diaz was landing a lot of punches in the third, with Dogboe having trouble with movement of Diaz. In the fourth and fifth, Diaz continued to outbox and outland Dogboe.
In the sixth, Dogboe really picked up the pace and was landing a lot of quick punches on the inside to the head and body. The seventh and eight were close, with Diaz now choosing to exchange hard punches instead of moving and boxing. More of the same in the ninth and tenth, as they were picking their spots to unload combinations. Dogboe had the slight edge with punches connecting in the end.
