“A lot of things this year, I have experienced for the first time,” said Krejcikova, per the Billie Jean King Cup website.
“I am very excited and I am really looking forward to leading this team. “We have a really good team and a really good chemistry inside it. I think it is going to be a perfect week for us and I cannot wait to play in front of our Czech crowd.
“Even with a busy schedule, there was never a chance I was not going to be here. I always want to represent Czech Republic, especially when playing at home. Playing at home and representing your country is the biggest thing for an athlete.
“I am very grateful and happy to be here and hopefully we will have a good week”.
Petkovic and Germany won’t face the Czechs in the group stage
Germany was drawn to play Russia and Slovakia in the group stage so they won’t be meeting the Czech Republic at the start of the event.
The Czechs have one of the most complete teams at the Billie Jean King Cup. “I believe this is another fantastic team,” Czech Billie Jean King Cup captain Pala said. “I am very fortunate to be a part of this team and to have been captain for such a long time with such marvellous girls, great stars and great players.
“I know we have a very tough group, but we are looking forward to our first match against Germany and we will take it from there. It is very exciting to be here and especially to be playing at home. “This tournament means a lot to people in Czech Republic, which is a tennis country with a long history of great players – men and women. It is always a privilege for me to be a part of this team.”
