Everton fans call for Delph & Gordon starts after Wolves defeat

‘Changed the game’: Everton fans call for two players to start vs Spurs after Molineux defeat

The Everton faithful have taken to social media in their numbers this evening, to direct praise in the direction of two of the club’s stars.

Blues downed

Rafael Benitez’s men were of course back in action a short time ago.

On the back of a dismal spell of form, which most recently saw them ship five goals in a home defeat to Watford, the Toffees made the trip to Molineux, eyeing a bounce-back result in a Premier League meeting with Wolves.

When all was said and done, however, Everton’s woes only proceeded to worsen.

Another disjointed showing, particularly across the opening 45 minutes, ultimately culminated in Benitez and co. being put to the sword by two goals to one.

The game’s deciding sequence came within the space of five first-half minutes, as strikes on the part of Max Kilman and Raul Jimenez ensured that Alex Iwobi’s finish 25 minutes from time, in the end, represented little more than a consolation.

‘Have to start’

In turn, on the back of a 3rd successive Premier League defeat, it should come as little surprise to hear that the Everton faithful, on Monday night, are up in arms.

A whole host of the club’s stars, as well as boss Rafael Benitez, have been subjected to heavy criticism, amid an alarming slip to the depths of mid-table.

As outlined above, though, on a night which supporters of the Blues will no doubt be keen to forget as soon as possible, solace was in fact taken in the performances of two of those to have been introduced from the bench.

The players in question? Fabian Delph and Anthony Gordon.

In fact, so impactful did the pair prove that, in the aftermath of Monday’s action at Molineux, calls have mounted online for both to be handed a starting berth versus Tottenham next time out:
